Growing up, I strived to be the best daughter and the best sister. Oftentimes, I would sacrifice myself and my needs to make others happy. Because I felt alone and abandoned, I felt that if anyone could reciprocate an inch of love back to me, then I would feel safe. Then I would feel seen. Then I would feel loved.
Growing up I strived to be the best daughter and the best sister but I realized it was an endless loop of disappointments and sadness. I was losing myself and in the process, I was learning I needed to find confirmation from others to feel loved and seen.
Growing within
Now I strive to be the best person for myself. I pour love, kindness, and care into my soul. I hold my inner child close and remind her she is safe and protected. And oftentimes I tell myself ….I’m proud of me. That I love myself. Because I am learning, I have everything I need within me. I’m learning how to love myself fully without the confirmation of others. I remind myself I am enough just as I exist, I am loved and I am safe. And I tell myself often, I am so proud of me.
